Today, we honored Shannon Davis, the former Maintenance Supervisor of Nash County Public Schools, who recently passed away. Many members of our staff wore their favorite team jerseys to school today in honor of Shannon, who loved sports and was a BIG Tar Heel fan. Several staff members built close relationships with Shannon and his family, as his children attended Bailey Elementary in their childhood. Bailey Elementary sends its love and deepest condolences to the Davis family! 💛💚💛💚

Welcome back to school
Good Evening Hornet Parents, We are excited to start the new school year tomorrow morning. We will begin taking students into the building from car line at 7:20 and those students will report to the cafeteria. At 7:40 all students will be directed to their classrooms. Parents may walk children to the classroom tomorrow and for Kindergarten students this will apply to their first day of staggered enrollment. After the first day we ask that all students are dropped off in the manner they will be for the remainder of the year. For dismissal will will run the car line using the driveway farthest to the east on Pine St. Buses, PreK and our Special Needs students will use the driveway closest to the baseball field. The first few weeks of school our carline will take extra time as our students learn the routine. We ask for your patience as we work through the process. We anticipate dismissal to take up to 45 minutes but know once learned the process will be completed in about 25min. If there is overflow traffic on Pine St in front of school then please pull your car off the side in the direction you are driving. This will help those cars trying to exit at the other end of the driveway. Buses will be running tomorrow and it will take a few weeks to get their schedule consistent as we will be adding new riders and adjusting routes. Please contact Mrs. Deans with any bus questions. Thank you for the great turnout at open house last week. It was nice to meet many of you. We all look forward to a great first week as we kick off the new school year and thank you in advance for your patience and support. Good night.

Below is a message that never ended up getting sent to our Bailey Families due to technical issues that sent it to Winstead Ave parents. The issue is hopefully resolved as of today and I will send another message this evening. Thank you for your understanding. Good Evening Hornet Parents, We are one week away from our students coming to school for the 2024-25 school year. This week on Thursday we will host our open house where you can come meet your child's teacher and get all the information you need to have a successful start to the year. There will be two time slots that are open for families to come, 11:00-1:00 and 4:30-6:30. We will have stations set up in the gym for you to get information about school transportation, before and after school programs, technology, our Bailey PTO, and other local agencies will be here to share about any programs they may offer. You will be able to visit your child's classroom to meet the teachers and exchange information regarding schedules, communication, and classroom needs and expectations. Post cards were sent home last week with your child's teacher name and room number. If you did not get one you will be able to find out your child's teacher in the gym on Thursday. We will have staggered enrollment the first week of school for Kindergarten and PreK so be sure to get that information from your child's teacher. The beginning of school is an exciting time for us all. The arrival and dismissal procedures take time to become fluid and we ask in advance for your patience and support as we work to streamline a safe and orderly experience for all our families. We will have information regarding times and places for arrival and dismissal at open house. We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday as we gear up for an amazing year at Bailey. Good night

Good Evening Hornet Parents, This is Quintin Mangano, your new Principal at Bailey Elementary School. I am excited to be here in Bailey to serve our students and this school community. I have met the great staff members here over the last few weeks and I look forward to meeting all our students and families this school year. Our open house will be on Thursday August 22nd. There will be two time slots available for you to come out to meet teachers, new staff members and get the important information you will need for the start of school. The times will be 11:00AM-1:00PM and 4:30PM-6:30PM. We will send postcards a week in advance with the names of students’ homeroom teachers. If your child is a bus rider it is very important for you to sign them up now. The link can be found below this message. You will need your child’s student ID number in order to make this happen. NCPS transportation department will need bus forms completed no later than August 4th in order for your child to be eligible to ride the bus the first day of school. Even if your child rode the bus last year you still have to sign them up again this year. Families who do not get the form completed by the deadline could result in your child not having transportation for up to 10 days at the beginning of school. Thank you for taking care of this as soon as possible. If you have any questions feel free to contact the school. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation and again I look forward to meeting all our students when we begin the new school year. Good night. Sign your child up for the bus using the form below: Spanish https://forms.gle/DZR2yP8kk5SGeRMZ7 English https://forms.gle/jD66CgehAPMUuqFS9
