Nash County Public Schools will start on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, to ensure the safety of the road conditions. Due to recent weather forecasts and prioritizing the safety of our students, families, and staff, Nash County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17. This decision follows the latest update from the National Weather Service in Raleigh. The forecast indicates the possibility of isolated, patchy ice on pavements tonight and tomorrow morning. Furthermore, they anticipate sub-freezing temperatures in the morning, potentially dropping as low as 23 degrees, with a wind chill factor of 12 to 15 degrees. Revised Schedule for January 17, 2024: - Traditional High School: 9:30 a.m. - Elementary School: 10:00 a.m. - Middle School: 10:30 a.m. - Tar River Academy and CITI High School: 11:00 a.m. - Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School: 11:30 a.m. Breakfast will be available at schools. Students may be dropped off 40 minutes prior to the start of their school. If you ride the bus - please be on the lookout for transportation updates in the morning. Thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe in this weather. For any inquiries, contact your respective school. Please follow this link for updates: https://www.ncpschools.net/page/emergency-landing-page

NCPS Demerger Updates Good Afternoon, We are pleased to announce two upcoming community forums scheduled for the end of January. The first forum will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Winstead Avenue Elementary School from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event will focus on discussing the future plans for Englewood Elementary, Williford Elementary, Winstead Avenue Elementary, and Edwards Elementary. The second forum is set for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Edwards Middle School, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This gathering will address the prospective plans for families of Edwards Middle and Rocky Mount Middle School students. Similar to the first forum, District leadership will be present to share insights and answer questions. We strongly encourage the attendance of all families with current and future middle school students. In preparation for these meetings, we invite you to complete an anonymous survey available via the link below. The survey is designed to assist in organizing the community engagement forums related to the NCPS demerger. Its purpose is to gather questions beforehand, allowing leadership to address concerns during the forums effectively. These forums will focus on the reorganization plans for our district and are specifically for Nash County residents affected by the demerger. Please note that the survey will close on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Thank you, NCPS - Demerger Team Community Forums Survey Please click here, to access the community forums survey. Good Evening Wahoos, We hope this message finds you well-rested, joyful, and ready to return and finish the 2023-24 school year! Our dedicated teachers and staff are thrilled to see the smiling faces of our students filling our classrooms and halls once again. As a reminder, parents must sign in, students arriving after 8:00 am, and early check-outs are over at 2:30 pm. Likewise, parents cannot walk up and get their children during dismissal. This policy is to avoid confusion and for the safety of our students and staff. We know that emergencies may arise, and transportation may need to change occasionally. That said, please send a written note with your child to school indicating such a change or a message on the NCPS app by 2:30 pm. We thank you in advance for understanding and ensuring the safety of our students. Also, report cards will go home on Monday, and the mClass MOY testing window will open on January 10. This week, we will start our "fast pass" car line ticket sale. With each $1 donation to the school, you will enter your name into the "fast pass" drawing. On the back of the ticket, please write your name or child's name and phone number. If you want a specific number of tickets, please message your child's teacher or an administrator. We will pull out five names on Friday afternoon. The winners will not have to sit in the car line but can pull to the back of the school at 3 pm, and their kids will be waiting without the line and hassle. Once again, thank you for being partners in your child's education. Have a great evening.
